Terms and Conditions is a series of six intensive teaching residencies taking place in different European cities. Each is a temporary school organised around a theme, question or proposition, developed in collaboration with local partners, artists and curators.
The programme brings together students and practitioners from different backgrounds for collective study. There is no fixed format or curriculum. Workshops, lectures, performances, screenings, writing, choreographic work, social dreaming and studio practice become ways of thinking and learning together. Learning is understood as thinking in action, with questions emerging through experience and encounter rather than working towards predetermined outcomes.
Each residency is an experiment in what a school might be when education is understood not simply as the transmission of knowledge, but as a practice of making knowledge together.

Studium Generale
Terms and Conditions is one of two core teaching strands at Field Studies, alongside Figures of Eight. Each is a school in its own right, while also forming part of a wider curriculum that students can compose through their own movement between events, places and modes of study. Together they form Field Studies’ Studium Generale.
