Michael Curran

Michael Curran’s practice spans performance, drawing and poetry. He first became known in the 1990s for his transgressive performance‑to‑camera works, later shifting from film and video installations into live performance. He studied at Goldsmiths, Duncan of Jordanstone, and the Jan Van Eyck Academie, and subsequently taught at several London art schools, including Middlesex University, Camberwell, and Central Saint Martins. His practice has become increasingly centred on live, time‑based situations, incorporating spoken word, song and drawing. Michael is the founder and director of HOVEl, an experimental art space run from his home in South London.
