Athina Valha is an independent artist, lecturer and researcher, specialised in choreography. Over thirty years  she has produced work across the UK, Europe, South Africa, US, Mexico, Japan and Australia. She created and managed large scale site- specific works supported by the Arts Council England and for the Infecting the City Festival in Cape Town supported by the British Council and the Creek embassy. Commissioned works included the re-opening of the Royal Festival Hall, Tate, ICA, Science Museum, Royal Shakespeare Company, the London Olympics. She has collaborated with people from diverse backgrounds globally including, athletes, martial artists, scientists, writers and academics. She has recently worked with composer Neil Luck on his 'Sensible Activities’ and with the sound artist Wajid Yaseen on his Urbex Audio project for abandoned buildings. Athina was awarded a PhD by Public Works in Performing Arts, and is a permanent lecturer at the MA Performance Design and Practice course at Central St Martins University of Arts. She is currently working on a music event for the Information Age gallery at the Science Museum London (February 2025) as movement director, and as a dramaturg, she is collaborating with  choreographer Gail Sneddon on a site-responsive research project in rural Scotland. http://www.athinavahla.com
